Combined with six universities (all within a 50-mile radius) delivering world class higher education to over 130,000 students helps to ensure that businesses locating in Richmondshire benefit from access to an above average, highly skilled workforce.

has campus’ in London and Hong Kong, with a track record of excellence in medical education spanning over 100 years. In March 2018 they were successful in a bid to open a new School of Medicine.

Northumbria University logo

has campuses in London and Amsterdam and works with major employers, including Nike, IBM, Nissan, Proctor & Gamble, the BBC, and the NHS, while more than 560 employers and 60 professional bodies sponsor or accredit the University’s programmes. They are ranked fourth in the UK for graduate business start-ups.

As well as top class universities we also have access to further education colleges with pro-active careers services and work experience programmes. These colleges have formed strong relationships with business and industry to ensure their courses meet the needs of employers.

Darlington College

offers a range of courses including business and management, hospitality and catering and construction and building trades in a state-of-the-art facility. The college has strong links to Teesside University and offers apprenticeships and adult education courses.

The Wensleydale 6th Form

has a Business and Innovation Centre and is a Peter Jones Enterprise Academy. The course gives students the opportunity to do a range of A levels and Level 3 qualifications in subjects including Business Marketing, IT, Sociology and a practical maths course looking at issues such as inflation.

Richmond School and 6th Form College

offers a range of further education courses, and has strong links with a number of universities including Leeds, Durham, York and Teesside and works in collaboration with a number of national businesses including Cummins, Glaxo SK and Network Rail. They also have a professional placement scheme, where students can gain work experience.
